Born in Culiacán, México, Pavel Meza graduated from Escuela Nacional de Música-UNAM, where he studied guitar performance under Professor Juan Carlos Laguna. After completing undergraduate studies, he continued his Master´s studies under Professor Elías Barreiro at Tulane University of New Orleans. Currently he is pursuing a DMA in guitar under Professor Thomas Patterson at the University of Arizona. He has been awarded several prizes in guitar competitions such as First Prize in Paracho National Competition (México), Second Prize at the Columbus State University Guitar Competition and Symposium, and has also been a First Prize winner of the Beeston Guitar Competition at the University of Arizona.
Pavel Meza is currently a professor of guitar studies and chamber ensembles at the School of Music of the University of Sinaloa and the Sinaloa State Institute of Culture. He develops an active performing career both as a soloist, as well as in collaboration with various chamber ensembles and as a soloist with the Sinaloa Symphony Orchestra.
