Julio Alejandro Arenas

Alejandro Arenas is a young classical and rock guitarist from Nogales, Sonora who has performed throughout Tucson, Nogales and Hermosillo. Alejandro started playing guitar at the age of eight, and joined different rondallas where he would sing and play guitar, bass, or tololoche. In Fall of 2017, Alejandro joined the Pima Community College music program, and played as a guitarist at Pima's pit orchestra to perform Priscilla Queen of the Desert in 2018, and in the following year performed Mamma Mia! which both musicals required 10 performances within two weeks. In 2018, he joined the Pima Community College guitar orchestra and college singers for two years, which led him to perform throughout Tucson, and Sonora. 

Alejandro performed with his former instructor Michael Lich and the Pima Community College guitar orchestra at Tucson and Hermosillo along with the Orquesta de Guitarras from Universidad de Sonora. In 2018 and 2019, he played at the Tucson Guitar Society as a soloist and with Pima's guitar ensemble. He also became a member of the Tucson Choral Society in 2019 performing at the Catalina Methodist Church. Thus having studied with Michael Lich, Alejandro has also studied with Erick Quijada the head guitar professor at Universidad de Sonora. 

Besides playing, he has a background in teaching education in Mexico. He has taught guitar, piano, singing, music theory and aural perception skills to students of all ages, from a classroom to online lessons. 

Outside of school, he plays in a duet called Bemol Guitar Duo with Jordin Angulo. In 2020, Alejandro graduated with an Associate's Degree in Fine Arts from Pima Community College. He is currently studying at the University of Arizona pursuing his Bachelor's in guitar performance at the  Bolton Guitar Program under the supervision of Tom Patterson. He is planning to become a classical and non-classical performer, as well as a music producer for video games, films and animated series.
