Sundays in the Garden: Mariachi and Folklorico!

When

1:30 to 3 p.m., Oct. 21, 2018

Where

Two terrific groups of talented young people from Tucson! And hearing them is free with park admission, so don't miss it.
MARIACHI RAYOS DEL SOL has been both a class and after-school club at Tucson High Magnet School since the late 1970s when Macario “Mack” Ruiz of Mariachi Cobre formed the group. In 1992, mariachi was incorporated into the curriculum at Tucson High as an alternative to orchestra and band and in that year, the inaugural class officially named the ensemble “Mariachi Rayos del Sol.” Now celebrating its 25th year anniversary, Mariachi Rayos del Sol continues to perform in countless public and private venues while proudly representing THMS’s diverse student population and unparalleled Fine Arts Magnet Program.
Currently under the direction of Tucson High graduate and Rayos del Sol alumnus Justin J. Enríquez, the group continues to preserve the musical legacy and proud culture of mariachi music at THMS and throughout the Tucson community.
As if that is not enough, they are joined by the Grupo Folklorico Los Tucsonenses to bring an outstanding performance to the gardens!
This is an outdoor event.
