UA Classical Guitar Program is among world's best. Acclaimed by many as the top classical guitar program in the country, the UA's Bolton Guitar Studies Program offers students from all over the world a home and opens doors to a distinguished future in music. For lovers of all things classical, U of A Guitarists promises sensational performances by four extremely talented duets.
Ana Maria Iordache (guitar) & Andrea Roberto (guitar) - Originally from Romania, Ana Maria has been awarded numerous prizes in various international competitions in Romania, Germany, Spain, Portugal and the United States. Hailing from Italy, Andrea began studying guitar at the age of 4, and at the age of 14 obtained a diploma from "U. Giordano" Conservatory, with honors.
Diana Schaible (flute) & Misael Barraza-Diaz (guitar) - Ms. Schaible was the flutist for the Fred Fox Graduate Wind Quintet, the principal flutist for the Arizona Symphony, and is currently a teaching artist for TUSD's "Opening Minds through the Arts" program. Winner of eight international guitar competitions, as well as over twenty local and national ones, Misael hails from Sonora, Mexico and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts at UA.
Duo VillaLobos (guitar & cello) - Consisting of Edwin Guevara (guitar) and Cecilia Palma (cello), Duo Villa-Lobos is recognized worldwide as one of the premiere guitar and cello duos and have recorded original music for these two instruments with the Naxos record label. Important composers such as Leo Brouwer, Ricardo Pauletti, Jorge Miguel Gonzalez, Jaime Zenamon, Abdel Vega, Jose Galeote, Pedro Sarmiento, and Blas Emilio Ateortua have dedicated works to them.
Duo Chinoiserie (guzheng and guitar) - Jing Xia and Bin Hu. Founded in 2016, Duo Chinoiserie is a world-culture-inspired ensemble comprised of a traditional Chinese instrument and a western instrument – the guzheng and guitar. Its repertoire embraces traditions from cultures across Eurasia and displays the interactions and similarities as well as the uniqueness and exoticism of different musical cultures.
